Self-described “librarian by day, singer-songwriter by night, Laura Holmes brings songs full of love, longing, and literary references.” Her dedication to community is evident in her helming of the Ulysses Philomathic Library and giving her compelling voice to the Trumansburg Community Chorus, open mic sessions for the Trumansburg Conservatory of Fine Arts, and as a Porchfest (Tburg and Ithaca) performer. We’re thrilled to have her grace the Leslie Puryear Grassroots Stage at ICB.

The Dart Brothers

The Dart Brothers came together in 2015 in Ithaca, NY’s vibrant music scene, grinding it out in a freezing second-floor studio where frostbite was a real possibility and many sensible bands would’ve thrown in the towel after one brutal winter. The lineup brings together Todd Edmonds, Dan Lashkoff on drums, Andy Russell on guitar, John North with his fiery electric guitar, Tamis Kaplan on sweet country fiddle, and Warren Bunn holding down the bass grooves—each member adding their own flavor to create something that’s equal parts heartland rock, upstate twang, and indie grit.

Drawing inspiration from alt-country and indie rock heavyweights like Wilco, REM, the Jayhawks, and Dawes, the band cut their teeth playing every brewery and winery that would have them around the Finger Lakes region, winning over discerning crowds one harmony-filled chorus at a time. After years of road-testing their songs and fine-tuning their chemistry in front of audiences who came for the Riesling but stayed for the music, they finally dropped their debut album Strangest Wavelength in 2020—a collection that captures all the raw energy and polish they’d been perfecting since those shivering early rehearsals. Their second record, Lovers Motel, was released in 2024. Both albums were nominated for Best Americana record at the Syracuse Music Awards (Sammy’s).

Louiston

Louiston is a folk n’ roll band with off-speed pitches from Ithaca and Trumansburg, NY. The moniker of Lou DiPietro’s solo acoustic stuff for forever, Louiston trades in tight, up-tempo songs with three- and four-part harmonies, loads of tasty riffs, and lyrics that soothe and burn when they must. “Tiny Devastations in Granular Living,” out now, is Louiston’s third formal album and the first with this lineup.!

Accompanying Lou (vocals/guitars) are Colleen Countryman on keys, Scottie Nelson on bass, and Chris Ploss on drums. They call their sound folk n’ roll – acoustic-centered Americana, folk, rock n’ roll, indie, a teaspoon of ragtime and a pinch of melodic punk to taste. This week, the band cites Neko Case, John K. Samson, Sam Cooke and a thousand other bands and artists as influences.

The Small Kings

Performing around upstate NY and the Finger Lakes for 20+ years, the chemistry, passion, and joy we feel in sharing our music is always given to our listeners. We play original songs that are a unique blend of rock, reggae, funk and improv with rich vocal harmonies. Our sets have featured Jon Petronzio (John Brown’s Body, Roadman) on keyboard.  In 2021, Khris Oursler (The Blind Spots) joined the band on bass guitar.
